My Christmas Card

This year I made two Christmas cards that were very similar but used different designs of Designer Series Paper.  Of course, this is because I would have had to purchase 4 or 5 packs of it in order to make all the cards I needed to make.

I used the Snowfall Thinlits that were available during the month of November to make both of these cards.  If you purchased them you know they make the most gorgeous snowflakes.

The top card uses the Best Route Designer Series Paper with Real Red cardstock and a Basic Black card base.  I put a Rhinestone in the middle of the snowflake.  This was the card I gave to my Club Members at our annual Christmas card share.

The second card uses Festive Farmhouse DSP.  This paper is also Gray Granite but has Cherry Cobbler in it instead of Real Red.  Gray Granite has definitely become my new favorite neutral.  It goes with just about everything.

The sentiment on both of the cards is from the stamp set called Star Of Light and is in the 2018/2019 Annual Catalog.

I won’t be posting tomorrow since it is Christmas Day.  I wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy & Healthy New Year.  Thank you for reading my blog, purchasing from me and supporting me in this crazy craft I love so much.

Christmas Quilt

This year has been another crazy November and December for me.  I traveled a lot.  A new baby boy grandchild was born, I had to go help my 92 year old Mother for a few days after her surgery and we went to see another grandchild who lives in Alabama.   Then, as you know, Rob had hip replacement surgery.

As a result of this I didn’t have a lot of time to make elaborate Christmas cards.   I needed to go simple and the stamp set called Christmas Quilt was perfect for this. This stamp set is in the Holiday Catalog and it has a set of matching dies called Quilt Builder Framelits. Unfortunately, it is going to retire at the end of this month for good so if you like it you will need to order it before then.  By the way, if you order the Bundle you can save 10%!

Christmas Quilt is a two step stamp set.  The tree is made up of two different stamps that you layer on top of each other to make one image.  The stamps are Photopolymer so it is super easy to line up.  The sentiment is from Star Of Light.

I would like to wish everyone and very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and an amazing New Year.  Thank you for all your purchases, comments and support you give me throughout the year.  It is wasn’t for you, I would not be writing this crazy blog.

Winter Wonder

Winter Wonder is a new Embossing Folder that is in the 2017 Holiday Catalog.  Unfortunately, Stampin’ Up! sort of hide it amongst all the other products and projects on page 37.  I didn’t even notice it at first but then I started seeing cards made with it.  It took me a while to find it.  It is a beautiful Embossing Folder and is perfect for Christmas or winter cards.

Another thing on page 37 is the new Champagne Foil Sheets.  These are kind of hidden too.  They are absolutely beautiful and it is hard to capture that in a photograph.  As a matter of fact the Year of Specialty Washi Tape is also on that page but is not as hidden as the other two items.

The sentiment is from the stamp set called Star of Light.  I embossed it in Silver because Stampin’ Up! doesn’t sell it in Champagne (yet).  I am hoping they will have it in their next catalog!

Winter Wonder

The 2017 Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog is full of products that don’t necessarily stand out in it.  The Winter Wonder Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is one of these products.  It is easy to overlook on page 37 of the catalog because of all the awesome products being showcased on that page as part of the Year Of Cheer Suite.  The Embossing Folder is a super large snowflake (and we all know how much I love large images!) that makes a beautiful impression for a background of a card.

The snowflakes I used on this card are from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies.  This is a great set of dies that has something for every season.  There are three different snowflake dies in the set (although I only used two for this card).  The Merry Christmas sentiment is from the stamp set called Star Of Light which is in the 2017/2018 Annual Catalog.

I know Labor Day was a couple of weeks ago but I had a couple of wonderful visitors that weekend.  My son, Sam came for a visit and brought Madelyn with him.  Poor Tara had to work all weekend so she couldn’t come and she was sadly missed.  Madelyn is the prettiest and brightest two year old I know.  Of course, I am a little prejudice but as a grandmother, I can say such things.  We had so much fun with her.  She slept in the room across from mine and every morning when I woke up I would hear her calling me to come snuggle with her.  It was awesome!

We did a lot of reading from the Daniel Tiger book.  Daniel Tiger is a great kid’s show (and book) that is based on the Mr Rogers Neighborhood series from long ago.  It talks about a lot of life lessons like having a baby brother on the way, being scared of trying new things, going to the doctor and other lessons like that.  Madelyn and I read the entire book over the weekend.  Daniel Tiger is her favorite.  Ugga Mugga, Madelyn!

Our Christmas Card Stamp Off

TGIF!  It is our Stamp Off Challenge Day.  This time we decided to share our personal Christmas Cards.  I know it is not really a challenge but it is still fun to see what each of us made.

december-23

I actually made two Christmas Cards this year.  I usually make a bunch of the same but decided after making 20 of one card, I wanted to do something different.  There were so many wonderful Christmas stamp sets in the Holiday Catalog that I had a hard time choosing.  The first card I made used the stamp set called Star Of Light.  This set has matching Thinlits called Starlight.  I think this set is so elegant.

The second card I made was more cute than elegant.  I used the stamp set called Santa’s Sleigh and the matching Thinlits (also called Santa’s Sleigh).  The sentiment is from Merriest Wishes and the Designer Series Paper is called This Christmas.

I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Now, let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made for their Christmas cards.

Making Cards With Friends

Once a month I meet a small group of ladies for a “shoebox swap”.  This is where we each make a card and bring all the supplies for the other participants to make your card too.  I suppose it is called a shoebox swap because you bring all the supplies in a shoebox to pass around the table. There are five of us who meet and I wanted to share the cards we made this month.

Here is the card I designed for everyone to make.

Merry Tags, Pine Bough Embossing Folder

I used the new set of Thinlits called Merry Tags.  These Thinlits are in the 2016 Holiday Catalog.  It also has this embossing folder called Pine Boughs and the Night Of Navy Bakers Twine.  The sentiment is from Star Of Light.

Here are the other cards we made.  First is Laura’s card.

My Favorite Things

Stamp Off Logo Clean

Today’s Stamp Off Challenge was a hard one for me (even though it was my idea).  We are supposed to use our favorite things from the Holiday Catalog.  The problem I ran into was I like so many things from this catalog that it was hard to choose.

Here is my card:

Star Of Light, Starlight, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

I ended up choosing the Star of Light Stamp Set with the matching Thinlits called Starlight Thinlits (you can save 10% by purchasing both in a Bundle).  I love this set because it has so many things you can do with it.  The set of Thinlits is amazing and everything coordinates perfectly.  This set even makes a 3D star.

One thing I knew I had to also use was the Copper Foil Sheets.  This picture does not do it justice.  These foil sheets are just gorgeous.  They are a beautiful rich color and they shine amazingly.  As always, Stampin’ Up! offers other matching products to go together.  I used the Copper Embossing Powder for the sentiment and you can also get Copper Metallic Thread.

I cut the star our of Whisper White cardstock and used the negative piece for the card.  I put Dimensionals on the back of it so it would be raised.  Originally I added a bunch of stars and other things but decided I liked the simplicity of this better.

Now, let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made.  It is so much fun to not show each other our creations ahead of time.

Star Of Light

Star Of Light

Star of Light is a new stamp set that is in the 2016 Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog.  It has a matching set of Thinlits (that are awesome!!) and you can save 10% by purchasing both in a Bundle.  I think this is going to be super popular because it is so elegant.

We made this last night at our monthly club meeting.  I used the new Copper Foil Sheets that are also in the Holiday Catalog.  These are just gorgeous.  I think they are my favorite Foil Sheets.  The color is so rich and beautiful.  We embossed the sentiment in the new Copper Embossing Powder to match.

The three layers of the star are all shapes from the set of Thinlits.  One of the Thinlits makes a 3D star that is beautiful too.
