Goodbye To Starburst Sayings

Just Sayin

Just Sayin’ is a stamp set that is retiring on June 2nd.  The matching Framelits called Starburst are also retiring.  I decided to make one last card before it was gone for good.  It is kind of hard to tell by the picture, but I cut a curve out of the Whisper White card stock and then placed the smaller circles around the curve.  The Bermuda Bay card stock is really attached to the inside of the card but shows because of the curve.  Did that make any sense at all?  Anyway, if you like this stamp set and the Framelits you need to order them before they retire on June 2nd.

Here is a picture of Madelyn sitting on her Dad’s lap.  I think he must be telling her some story that she doesn’t quite believe!  She has a very skeptical look on her face.

Happy Birthday David

Starburst Sayings

Today is my son, David’s birthday!  He is 35 years old!  How the heck did that happen??   Wow.  That is a tough one for me.  I remember when I turned 35 a couple of years ago.  I flunked my eye test for my driver’s license renewal.  That was pretty depressing.  I had to go to the Optometrist to get my eyes checked and I needed bifocals.  That was even more depressing!  I hope David has a better day than I did.  I will do my best to make sure he does have a good day but at his age, he doesn’t always let me do it my way anymore!  What is up with that??

The sad thing about this card is everything I used to make it is retiring!  The stamp set, the Framelits and the Designer Series Paper is all leaving.  If you like these products, you better hurry up and order them before they are gone for good.

Happy Birthday, David!

Happy Day File Folder Card

Starrburst Sayings, File Tabs

Sometimes it is nice to create a card that is not just a normal A2 card.  I made this File Folder card using the File Tabs Edgelits that in are in the Stampin’ Up! 2014 Annual Catalog.  A while back I showed you how to make a card like this using your Envelope Punch Board.  It was pretty easy to do but this is even easier!

I used the stamp set called Starburst Sayings.  This set has matching Framelits called Starbursts which making cutting things out so much easier.  I added a little bling buy cutting out one of the starbursts out of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  It is hard to tell from the picture but this Glimmer Paper sparkles in the light.

A Masculine Birthday Card

Starburst Sayings, Dude You're Welcome

Stampin’ Up! has a few different kits they offer in the Annual Catalog and the Holiday Catalog.  A couple of weeks ago I showed you some Christmas cards made with the kit called Watercolor Winter.  You can see the cards HERE.

In the Annual Catalog they have a kit for men called Dude, You’re Welcome.  I bought this kit for Rob and he has actually made a couple of cards with it.  You can see one of his cards HERE.  I made this card using one of the pieces of cardstock that comes in the Dude You’re Welcome Kit (Shhhh – don’t tell Rob).  It really have very nice cardstock in this kit.  It is heavy duty and has some great patterns.  I added the Happy Day stamp from the set called Starburst Sayings.  This set has matching Framelits called Starburst.  Then I added a few Candy Dots to the bottom right corner.

Oh Happy Day

Starburst Sayings

I know the Holiday Catalog has arrived and a lot of people are posting pictures of cards using the sets in that catalog (including me) but I thought I would take a break and share a birthday card I made using a stamp set from the Annual Catalog called Starburst Sayings.  This stamp set has a matching set of Framelits too so there is no cutting out with scissors.  The arrows on this card were punched out using a new punch called What’s Up.  It has two arrow shapes in one punch.  The Bermuda Bay Cardstock I used is from the Project Life Everyday Adventure Card Collection.

It’s Your Day!

Starburst Sayings, Fabulous Four

I am a gadget girl.  I love gadgets.  I love technology.  I have to have the newest, biggest, most powerful piece of technology out there.  I could take apart a computer to fix it and I could even put it back together again without any leftover pieces.  I have erased all the programs on my cell phone and put a new one on (that is called rooting your phone).  It is just my thing.  The reason I bring this up is because if it wasn’t for my phone and the calendar on my phone, I would forget everyone’s birthday.  I have them all set to send me a notice a week ahead of everyone’s birthday.  Well, guess what?!  I forgot to set myself a week’s notice for a friend’s birthday so when I got the notice, her birthday is tomorrow!  You know me.  I am not a last minute person.  I don’t perform well under pressure.  I tried to design a more complicated card for her but my mojo was missing because of the pressure.  Therefore, I decided simple was the way to  go.

I made this card using the stamp sets called Starburst Sayings and Fabulous Four.  I think it turned out ok for a last minute thing!

Today is the last day to take advantage of joining the Stampin’ Up! family for $50!  If you are interested you need to do it today!

Starburst Sayings Washi Tape Card

Starburst Sayings, Washi TapeMay is such a sad but exciting month in the world of Stampin’ Up!.  There is the excitement of the new Annual Catalog coming on June 2nd but at the same time it is the month where we find out what is going to retired.  Then, to top it all off, it is the last month for the Occasions Catalog!  Sometimes it is hard to keep track of it all!

This card has some product in the Occasions Catalog, some in the Annual Catalog and some that is going to retire and be gone for good.  I used the Gingham Garden Designer Washi Tape for the background.  This Washi Tape is going to retire and is available while supplies last.  One of the stamp sets I used is called Starburst Sayings has matching Starburst Framelits and is in the Occasions Catalog.  The good news is that it is going to be carried over to the new Annual Catalog.  The bad news is right now you can buy it in a Bundle and save 15% but once the Occasions Catalog retires on June 1st that special Bundle pricing will be gone.

Starburst Sayings Meets Modern Medley

Starburst Sayings, Modern Medley

Starburst Sayings is a stamp set in the Occasions Catalog.  It has a matching set of Framelits called Starburst.  If you purchase both in a Bundle you can save 15%.  One of the nice things about this set is that it is going to carry over into the new Annual Catalog that starts June 2nd!  Although it is in the new catalog it will not have a Bundle Price so if you like this set you should buy it before the Occasions Catalog expires on June 1st.  Actually all the Bundles in the Occasions Catalog will expire on this date.  Some of the stamp sets and Framelits will be carried over but again, the bundle pricing will not.

The background for this card is Designer Series Paper called Modern Medley.  This paper will not carry over into the new catalog (as most Designer Series Paper does not).

Chevron Border Punch Background Tutorial

Chevron Border Punch, Starburst SayingsYesterday I showed you this card I made the background using the Chevron Border Punch.  The background is actually two pieces and are attached under the 3/4″ Chevron Ribbon. I promised you a tutorial on how to make it. So here goes.

There is a small mark on the edge of the punch as seen in this picture (actually there are two but for the purposes of this tutorial you only use the first one).  It shows the beginning of where it punches.

Chevron Border Punch

Line up the edge of your 2 1/4″ x 5.25″ cardstock to this edge and punch as you normally would going all the way to the end of your cardstock.

Chevron Border PunchYour cardstock should look like this:

DSC02099Then flip the cardstock, line up the edge on that mark again and punch all the way to the end.

DSC02100Your cardstock will now look like this:

DSC02101Then punch a 1.4″ x 5.25″ piece of cardstock all the way across.  Snail them together on a 4 x 5.25″ piece of cardstock (I used So Saffron) and cover seam with the ribbon.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

Fun With The Chevron Punch

Chevron Border Punch, Starburst Sayings

Today is my oldest son, David’s birthday.  He is 34 year old!  I know.  How can I possibly have a son that old?  I ask myself that everyday.   It really doesn’t seem that long ago when he was born.  Where did the time go?

I made this birthday card for him because it was such a happy day when he was born.  I love the Chevron Border Punch that is in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog.  I am am so happy that it is carrying over into the new Annual Catalog that comes out June 1st.  You can make some great borders with this punch or you can use the pieces it cuts out too.  This card shows another fun way to use the punch.  See how the double chevrons on the right are all one piece?  I made that using this punch.  Tomorrow I am going to post a tutorial on how I made it so make sure you come back to see.

I also used the stamp set called Starburst Sayings on this card.  This set has a matching set of Framelits and you can buy both in a Bundle and save 15%!

Stayed tuned tomorrow for my tutorial on how to make this chevron background!
