Sweet Conversations

Stampin Up Sweet Conversations

I know Valentine’s Day is over but I wanted to show that you can use Valentine stamp sets for other occasions too.  This particular card could also be used as a birthday or thank you card as well as a Valentine.  Wouldn’t it make a perfect card for one of my granddaughters?

I used a lot of the products from the Sweet Talk Suite which is in the Stampin’ Up!® January – June Mini Catalog to make this card.  This suite includes the stamp set called Sweet Conversations and the coordinating dies are called Sweetheart Dies.  If you buy them in a bundle you can save 10%.  Also included in this suite is the Gingham Embossing Folder, boxes, ribbon, embellishments and Designer Series Paper. Do you remember those hard heart candies that would have words on them?  Some companies called them Sweethearts and other called them Conversation Hearts, which is why Stampin’ Up!® used both names in this bundle.  I don’t know if they still make these candies but I would assume they still do.  They were really popular when I was a kid many moons ago.

To make this card I first ran a Blushing Bride card base through my Cut & Emboss machine using the new Gingham Embossing Folder.  Then I cut out a piece of Highland Heather card stock using the Stitched So Sweetly die set.  I layered a piece of the Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper on top of that and adhered both to the card base.  Next I stamped the sentiment heart and cut that out using the Sweetheart dies.  I cut an additional Highland Heather Heart and the Blushing Bride tag.  I added the bow using the Baker’s Twine Essentials pack and adhered all of that to the card using Dimensionals.

On a side note, I want to wish Rob, my husband a very happy birthday.  He is the best and I hope he has a wonderful birthday!  I love you!

Island Vibes

Stampin Up Island Vibes

We made it home from Florida last weekend.  It was sad to leave all that warmth and sunshine.  It was chilly our first ten days there but it warmed up nicely during the second half of our vacation. I am going to miss that beautiful view we had too.  You can’t beat looking at this every night (except maybe at the cottage).

There is only one week left of the Stampin’ Up!® Sale-a-bration.  That means there is only one week left to earn products for free with a qualifying order.  There are a lot of wonderful products in the SAB catalog and I made this card using three of them.

To make this card I first used the Sale-a-bration stamp set called Island Vibes,  This stamp set includes three DisINKtive stamps.  A DisINKtive stamp is where one stamp has different opacities to show some depth.  I colored the plant using a Bermuda Bay, Soft Suede and Granny Apple Green Stampin Write Markers.   This is a great way to have different colors on one stamp.  Next I stamped the sentiment in Granny Apple Green ink from the Sale-a-bration stamp set called Friendly Hello and cut both out using a die from the set called Stitched So Sweetly.

Next I took a piece of Flowers For Every Season ribbon which comes in white and colored it using a Bermuda Bay Blends.  I love that the Blends can color embellishments and ribbons.  I tied this around a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of the Friendly Hello Designer Series Paper and adhered it to a Basic White card base.  Lastly I added Dimensionals to the back of the image I had stamped earlier to adhere it to the card.

As another reminder, if you order $150 worth of Stampin’ Up!® products you can get the Island Vibes stamp set as well as the Friendly Hello bundle (which includes a stamp set and Designer Series Paper).

True Love Designer Series Paper

Stampin Up True Love

True Love Designer Series Paper is in the 2021 January – June Mini Catalog and it is one of my favorite papers.  Why?  Because it is black and white paper.  I know black and white paper can seem boring by itself but I actually love the look of it because then you can add a pop of color somewhere to make it stand out.   What is even better is you can color it the DSP using your Stampin Blends to go with any project you are making.

For this card I first cut out the flowers from the True Love DSP and colored them using my Dark and Light Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Stampin Blends.  You can see how quickly this change the look of the paper.  I used Basic Black for the card base and layered a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Basic White cardstock that I had embossed with my Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder.  Then I took a 3.5″ x 2.5″ piece of the True Love Designer Series Paper and layered that on top of a piece of Basic Black card stock I had cut out using a die from the Stitched So Sweetly set.  Then I adhered the flowers on top.

After this I stamped the sentiment, Hello, using Versamark ink and heat embossed it using White Embossing Powder on a piece of Basic Black cardstock.  The sentiment is from the stamp set called Good Morning Magnolia.  This stamp set will be retiring on May 3rd.  The True Love Designer Series Paper  will retire on June 30th (or earlier if the supplies run out).  You really need to get this paper because you can use it any way by just coloring it.

Art Gallery

Stampin Up Art Gallery

I had fun today playing around with the Stampin’ Up!® Gilded Leafing.  It is really so beautiful in real life that it is hard for a photo to capture.  Gilded Leafing is in the 2021 January – June Mini Catalog and is part of the Fine Art Floral Suite.  You can use it with a lot of different adhesives including Heat & Stick Powder and Tear & Tape.  This time I used it with Multipurpose Glue.

For the background of this card, I used my Silicone Mat and put some Multipurpose Glue on it.  Then I took a Stamping Sponge and dipped it in the glue and dabbed it randomly all over a piece of Blushing Bride card stock.  Then I pressed the card stock with the glue on it into the Gilded Leafing.  By the way, I keep the Gilded Leafing in a 7″ x 7″ box with a top so it doesn’t go flying all over.  The leafing is very light and can easily get away from you but keeping it in a box helps a lot.  I adhered this to a piece of a Gold Foil Sheet.  This is a close up of what the background looks like.

Stampin Up Art Gallery

I stamped the flowers from the stamp set called Art Gallery in Rococo Rose ink and again in Old Olive.  Then I cut them both out using the coordinating die from the set called Floral Gallery (you can save 10% by purchased the stamp set and the dies together in a Bundle). I cut the stem off the Rococo Rose die cut and adhered the flowers on top of the Old Olive die cut.  You could use your Markers to separately color the stem and the flowers but I find it easier to do it this way.

After that I stamped the center of the flowers using Versamark, sprinkled Heat & Stick Powder on it and melted it with my Heat Tool.  You have to be careful not to overheat it or it loses its stickiness so just do it until it melts.  Then I pressed the flowers into my box of Gilded Leafing.  I adhered the flowers to a piece of Basic White card stock that I had cut out using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies using Stampin Dimensionals.   I stamped the sentiment in Rococo Rose ink.  Before I adhered it to my background,  I tied a piece of the Forever Greenery Trim around it.

Timeless Tropical

This is one of the cards we made at my last stamp class.  It seems like such a long time ago that I held a class.  Unfortunately, it is one of the things many, many things we had to stop due to COVID-19 (and my anticipated move).  It makes me sad when I think about the ladies that came to my classes over the years.  I had the best group and I miss them all a lot.  The good news is some of us got together (remotely of course) to hold monthly swaps.  Our first swap is at the end of of April and I will be sure to share them when it happens.

To make this card I used the Tropical Oasis Suite which is in the 2020 January – June Mini Catalog.  I knew as soon as I saw this Suite that I would have to get it and I still love it.  The Suite includes the stamp set called Timeless Tropical.  It has matching dies called In The Tropics (and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle).  Also included in this Suite is an embossing folder (Coastal Weave), Tropical Oasis Trinkets, Saddle Brown Stazon Ink, a Memories & More Card Pack and Braided Burlap Trim.  Plus there is Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper.  I love that Stampin’ Up!® has so many products  that go so well together.

The colors I used in this card are So Saffron, Pear Pizzaz, Very Vanilla, Early Espresso and Calypso Coral.  I layered a piece of the Tropical Oasis DSP on top of a piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock and a So Saffron card base.  Then I colored the trees with a Pear Pizzazz and Early Espresso Stampin Write Marker and cut them out using the coordinating dies.  Markers are a great way to stamp something in more than one color.  I cut two pieces of Pear Pizzazz cardstock using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies and then ran them through my die cutting machine using the Subtle Embossing Folder.  This gave the cardstock some texture.  I cut the sentiment out of Early Espresso cardstock and the flower out of Calypso Coral.  Lastly I added a Frosted Clear Epoxy Droplet to the center of the flower.

Very Versailles

One thing I am not surprised at about this new world of social distancing is that people seem to be kinder and more thoughtful.  I know at first it was “everyone for themself” but now people have woken up to the fact that working together is better.  I have seen a lot of kindness, tolerance and courtesy now.  I love that.

“Thank you for your kindness” is a perfect sentiment for the times.  It is part of the stamp set called Layered With Kindness and is in the Spring Mini Catalog.  There are two punches that go with it.  One is called Label Me Lovely and the other is Label Me Fancy.  Both can be used with the stamp set.

In this case I didn’t use either but instead chose the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  I love how these dies can nest within each other.  I first stamped the sentiment in Pretty Peacock and cut it out.  Then I took a piece of Basic Gray cardstock and cut out the larger piece using the same die set.  I stamped the branches in Pretty Peacock ink on top of a piece of 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper in Smoky Slate and layered everything on top of a piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock.

Honey Bee

As you already know, the Honey Bee stamp set and the matching Detailed Bee Dies are one of my favorite Bundles in the 2020 Mini Catalog.  Here is another card that I made using this Bundle but it is a little different than the other ones.  I wanted to show you there are other ways to use this set without the gorgeous Designer Series Paper that goes with it, as well as only using Black, White and Gold.

The colors I used for this card are Purple Posy, Garden Green, Daffodil Delight and Blackberry Bliss.  I first stamped the flowers in Garden Green ink and colored them using my Blackberry Bliss Stampin Blends.  I stamped the bees in Memento Black Ink and colored them using a Daffodil Delight Stampin Blends.  Then I cut them out using the Detailed Bee dies (and of course, you can save 10% by purchasing the Honey Bee stamp set and Detailed Bee Dies in a Bundle).  I popped up the bees using a Dimensional.  I stamped the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink and layered that onto a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock and a piece of Purple Posy cardstock that I had cut out using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  I used a piece of the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper.

Tomorrow is the last day of Sale-a-bration.  Don’t miss out in getting free products with a qualifying order or joining Stampin’ Up!® with an amazing offer.

Bugs, Bees or Butterflies

Hello everyone.  It is time for another Stamp Off Challenge with Jackie, Buffy and me.  This time we have a theme called Bugs, Bees or Butterflies.  I am sure it is no surprise that I chose bees.  I just love the stamp set called Honey Bee with the matching Detailed Bee Dies and the paper that you can get for FREE with a qualifying order called Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper!

I did something a little different with the bees this time (although you can’t see it in the photo).  I stamped them in black in and then embossed them with clear embossing powder.  It made the bees darker and very shiny.  I thought they looked great with the Golf Foil Sheets.  I tried to do a close up photo of them but it still did not show the shininess so you will have to take my word for it.

I stamped the sentiment in Black ink and then cut it out using the new Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  Then I cut the same shape out of Basic Black cardstock and layered it behind the Whisper White to give it a little shadow.  By the way, if you purchase the Honey Bee Stamp set and the Detailed Bees Dies (at a 10% discount) and you added the Stitched So Sweetly Die set, you could get the Golden Honey Designer Series Paper for FREE!

Now, let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy have made.  This is my favorite part of our Stamp Off day!

Positive Thoughts

Positive Thoughts is a stamp set that is in the 2020 January-June Mini Catalog.  It is one of the stamp sets that did not originally have matching dies to go with it but thanks to the Sale-a-bration Coordination products, it now does!  The dies are called Nature’s Thoughts and you can order them now.  Stampin’ Up!® now offers 5 different die sets as well as some Designer Series Paper  that is only available during Sale-a-bration or while supplies last.

The colors I used for this card are Mint Macaron, Balmy Blue, So Saffron and Whisper White.  I stamped each of the images and cut them out using the new dies.  This die set also includes the rectangle I cut in Whisper White cardstock.  If you look closely it has some funky stitches along the edges.  The sentiment is from Here’s A Card.  I stamped it using Memento Black ink onto a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock and then cut it out using the Stitched So Sweetly die set.
