Playful Alphabet

Stampin Up Playful Alphabet

This is a fun card I made that did not involve any stamping at all.  I only used dies, cardstock and Designer Series Paper.  I like making cards that just say hello because you can use them for any occasion by stamping the appropriate occasion stamp on the inside such as happy birthday, thinking of you or get well.  Really hello cards can be used for any occasion except maybe sympathy.

To make this card I first cut out the letters using the Playful Alphabet Dies.  The great thing about these dies is they have two dies for many of the letters.  These include two L’s for hello and two P’s for Happy so you can cut them all out at once.  There are also 2 A’s, E’s, I’s, N’s, O’s, R’s, S’s and T’s.   It makes it so much easier to make words because of this.  One trick to make your letters straight is to use a ruler.

It is hard to tell from the photograph but I actually used the negative space of the letters for this card.  I cut out the hello from Mossy Meadow card stock and then cut the card stock at an angle.  I backed that with a piece of Soft Sea Foam card stock.  I saved the letters I cut out you use on another card someday.

I cut out the two triangles from Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper using the Stitched Triangle Dies.  This DSP is in the 2021 January – June Mini Catalog.  The Stitched Rectangles are in the 2020/2021 Annual Catalog and are carrying over to the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog.  The coordinating stamp set called The Right Triangle is not carrying over though.  You can still buy the stamp set and dies in a bundle and save 10%.

Stampin Up Playful Alphabet

As most of you know, I love big and bold sentiments.  I like them in stamps and dies.  This year, Stampin’ Up!® has a set of dies called Playful Alphabets. In a way, these is the best of all worlds. You can make any sentiment you want using these letters.  They are small enough to even fit the word “celebrate” on a card.  They are part of the Playing With Patterns Suite which includes the stamp set called Pattern Play, Playing With Patterns Designer Series Paper, ribbon and embellishments.

This was a very simple card to make.  I cut out the letters of “HAPPY” in Just Jade cardstock.  I didn’t have to line them up to cut them because I was just going to use the letters.  I then cut two triangles out of Flowers For Every Season Designer Series Paper using the new Stitched Triangles Dies.  I used the flower side for the triangles and then added little strips from the other side of the paper along the edges.  Don’t you just love how Designer Series Paper is two-sided?  If you don’t like one side you can use the other.  The only problem I run into is when I love both sides and then have to choose.

The word birthday is from the stamp set called A Wish For Everything.

As a side note, we should have arrived in Nashville to our new house yesterday.  I wrote this post a couple of weeks ago so I wouldn’t have to worry about unpacking all my stamping products the second I got home.  Although we hated leaving the cottage, we are very excited to start our new life here.  Hopefully I will meet some fellow stampers soon so I can have someone to stamp with.

So Much Happy

Stampin’ Up!® has so many new products in the 2020/2021 Annual Catalog that I really love.  I bought a lot of the new bundles when this catalog because live on June 3rd.  The thing I really like is that they have great stamp sets that have matching dies but you can also mix and match different products from different bundles.  This is what I did to make this card.

The stamp set I used is called So Much Happy.  This set has matching dies called Happy Dies which are a lot of fun and you can save 10% by purchasing them as a bundle.  I didn’t use the matching dies for this card (although in the near future you will see a card I made using them).  Instead, I used the Stitched Triangles dies.  You know, I have to have all the stitched dies that are available!  These dies are bundled at 10% with the stamp set called The Right Triangle.

I also wanted to show the new InColors to show you how well they go together.  I did not use Magenta Madness because I wanted to make a more masculine card and didn’t think a very bright pink would help with that.  I did use the Stitched Triangle Dies to with the new 6′ x 6″ InColor Designer Series Paper in Bumblebee, Just Jade, Misty Moonlight and Cinnamon Cider.

Here is a little tip on making this card:  I used a T-Ruler to keep everything straight.  If you don’t have a T-Ruler you can get one on Amazon.  They are very inexpensive and really help to keep things aligned.

Don’t forget, during the month of June you can get an extra $25 in hostess benefits with a minimum $250 order.  It is also a great time to join my Stampin’ Up!® family because you can get $125 worth of products for $99 (with FREE shipping) AND you can choose any Bundle in the new catalog for free too!
