Timeless Tropical

This is one of the cards we made at my last stamp class.  It seems like such a long time ago that I held a class.  Unfortunately, it is one of the things many, many things we had to stop due to COVID-19 (and my anticipated move).  It makes me sad when I think about the ladies that came to my classes over the years.  I had the best group and I miss them all a lot.  The good news is some of us got together (remotely of course) to hold monthly swaps.  Our first swap is at the end of of April and I will be sure to share them when it happens.

To make this card I used the Tropical Oasis Suite which is in the 2020 January – June Mini Catalog.  I knew as soon as I saw this Suite that I would have to get it and I still love it.  The Suite includes the stamp set called Timeless Tropical.  It has matching dies called In The Tropics (and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle).  Also included in this Suite is an embossing folder (Coastal Weave), Tropical Oasis Trinkets, Saddle Brown Stazon Ink, a Memories & More Card Pack and Braided Burlap Trim.  Plus there is Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper.  I love that Stampin’ Up!® has so many products  that go so well together.

The colors I used in this card are So Saffron, Pear Pizzaz, Very Vanilla, Early Espresso and Calypso Coral.  I layered a piece of the Tropical Oasis DSP on top of a piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock and a So Saffron card base.  Then I colored the trees with a Pear Pizzazz and Early Espresso Stampin Write Marker and cut them out using the coordinating dies.  Markers are a great way to stamp something in more than one color.  I cut two pieces of Pear Pizzazz cardstock using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies and then ran them through my die cutting machine using the Subtle Embossing Folder.  This gave the cardstock some texture.  I cut the sentiment out of Early Espresso cardstock and the flower out of Calypso Coral.  Lastly I added a Frosted Clear Epoxy Droplet to the center of the flower.

A Retiring Dies Challenge

Hello everyone.  It is time for another Stamp Off challenge with Buffy, Jackie and me.  This time we had to use our favorite retiring die set.

This was a hard challenge because there are so many stamp set and dies that are retiring that I love.  In the end, I decided to go with the stamp set called Dear Doily and the matching dies called Doily Builder.  This bundle was so popular that it is actually not available to purchase anymore.

I decided to use one of the new InColors for this card called Seaside Spray.  It is a beautiful, soft blue with a bit of purple in it.  It is definitely going to be a color I use often.

To make this card I first ran a piece of Seaside Spray cardstock through the Big Shot using the Subtle Embossing Folder.  This folder is great for adding a bit of texture to your card.  It reminds me of the textured cardstock we used to have.  I colored the flowers using a Mint Macaron and Highland Heather marker, huffed on it to add some moisture and then stamped it onto Whisper White cardstock.  Then I cut them out using the matching die.  I stamped the doily in the middle using Highland Heather ink and punched that out using the 1 1/2″ Circle Punch.  I cut out the background doily and backed it with a piece of Mint Macaron cardstock.  I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Itty Bitty Birthdays and then layered everything together.

Now let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie‘s favorite retiring dies are.

The new Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog begins on Tuesday.  You are going to love it!

Stitched All Around

Stitched All Around is a stamp set that is in the Stampin’ Up!®  2018/2019 Annual Catalog.  It has a set of matching dies called Stitched Labels and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  As a reminder any of the products are in the Annual and Occasions Catalogs that are in a Bundle will not have the 10% savings once these catalogs on June 3rd.  If they carry over, you will pay full price for them.  While I am at it, this is another reminder that if you like any of the 2017-2019 In Colors you should order them as soon as possible because once they are gone, they will be gone for good.

I love the Stitched All Around stamp set and Stitched Labels Dies.  There are ten dies in the set and they make cut out fun and unusual shapes.  To make this card I first stamped the sentiment in Pineapple Punch ink and cut it out using one of the dies.  Then I cut out the label behind it in Grapefruit Grove cardstock.  I ran a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock in the Big Shot using the Subtle Embossing Folder.  I know it is hard to see on my card and in the catalog so here is a close up photo.

This embossing folder adds a lot of subtle texture (hence, the name).

I thought the card still needed something else so I tied a bow using Nature’s Twine in Grapefruit Grove.

This is the last week of Sale-a-bration time where you can earn FREE merchandise with a qualifying purchase, get an extra $25 in Hostess Benefits with a $250 single or group order and/or join my Stampin Up! family and get a $175 worth of products for $99  or get the Carry & Craft Tote and $175 worth of products for $129!

Happiness Surrounds

Stampin’ Up!® is offering a limited time bundle during the month of November called Snowflake Showcase.  It consists of two stamp sets called Happiness Surrounds and Snow Is Glistening, a set of dies called Snowfall Thinlits, White Velvet Paper and Snowfall Trinkets.  It is an awesome set of products that I knew I had to have the minute I saw it.  The snowflake dies are the most beautiful I have ever seen.  One stamp set is for the Christmas or winter season and the other can be used year round.

I used the Happiness Surrounds stamp set for this card to show you it is not just for winter.  The colors I used are Lemon Lime Twist, Flirty Flamingo, Coastal Cabana and Highland Heather.  I first embossed a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Lemon Lime Twist using the Simple Stripes Embossing Folder.  Then I punched out a circle of Flirty Flamingo using the 2 1/4″ Circle Punch and embossed that using the Subtle Embossing Folder to give it a little texture.  I stamped and cut out the rest of the pieces and layered a piece of Gold Metallic Thread behind it before adhering it to the circle using Dimensionals.  The Gold Metallic Thread added a little sparkle to the card.

The sentiment is from the stamp set called Tropical Chic.

Remember these products are only available through the month of November or as supplies last.  Don’t miss out on these beautiful products.  I put all of them in the links below.

A Color Challenge

Good morning everyone.  Today’s Stamp Off Challenge is a color challenge.  I have to admit I love all of these colors.  They are bright and fun and my cup of tea!

Here is my card

Used a couple of different stamp sets to make this card.  The background image is from the stamp set called Bokeh Dots.  It is a DisINKtive stamp set that Stampin’ Up! invented.  I must say that there is a trick to these kind of stamps.  You can’t really ink them up like a regular stamp.  They work better if you sponge them, use a dauber or a brayer.  I used a sponge.

The second stamp set is called Dandelion Wishes.  I think this has to be one of the most popular stamp sets out right now.  I used Basic Gray ink for the Dandelions and the sentiment.

It is hard to see in the picture but I embossed the piece of Mango Melody with the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I guess that is why they call it Subtle!

Now let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made using these colors.  I am sure they will be spectacular!

Tropical Chic

Tropical Chic is a fun new stamp set that is in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.  It has a set of matching Thinlits called Tropical Thinlits Dies and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  Let me tell you.  You are going to want to dies that match this stamp set!  Not only do they cut the outside of the leaves, they also cut the inside!  Stampin’ Up! has really gotten innovated with their dies this year.  Plus, they have one die that cuts out a square of leaves.  It is a must have item!

I also used a new Embossing Folder on this card called Subtle.  It is a perfect name for it because it is subtle!  If you look carefully you can see it on the bottom half of my card but here is a close up picture.

It makes it look like the old Textured cardstock that Stampin’ Up! used to sell years ago.

To make this card I first stamped the leaves in Lemon Lime Twist and then cut them out using the matching Thinlits.  Then I stamped the flower and the sentiment in Coastal Cabana and cut each one out using the flower die and Layering Circles Framelits.  I punched out a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock using the Starburst Punch.  I felt like it needed a little bit more so I cut out a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Layering Circle Framelits too.

The Designer Series Paper is called Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper and the ribbon is the 1/4″ Ombre Ribbon in Lemon Lime Twist.  I know it is hard to see because it is behind the leaves and circles.

Hand Delivered

Buffy and I have this kind of joke about the stamp set I used for this card.  It is a hostess set called Hand Delivered.  It has these legs with the skirt as one stamp but no head, body or arms.  Instead there are stamps like the sign she is holding that take the place of the rest of the body.  There is the sign, balloons, books and a cake.  It is cute but definitely one of those sets that you go “Huh?” when you first look at it.

In any case, I made this card for Buffy.  We do a ribbon share together.  She buys 5 or so rolls of ribbon and I buy a different set and we split it.  That way we get all kinds of ribbon at half the price.  I was supposed to put this card in the package of ribbon I was sending her but forgot to put it in before sealing it.  Maybe I will send it to her for her birthday in September.  Just pretend you aren’t reading this, Buffy.

The Designer Series Paper I used on this card is called InColor 6″ x 6″ paper.  I used a piece of Grapefruit Grove from this stack.  Then I embossed a small piece of Grapefruit Grove cardstock using the Subtle Embossing Folder.  I know it is hard to see in this picture but it looks like the retired Textured Cardstock we use to have.  I also used Bermuda Bay cardstock and my Stampin’ Blends to color.  I don’t have a Grapefruit Grove Blend so I used the light Calypso Coral one.  You can’t really tell the different since the flowers are so small.
