You Are My Sunshine

Good morning everyone!  Today is another Buffy, Jackie and Susan Stamp Off Challenge.  This time our challenge has to be something to do with sunshine.  Of course whenever I hear the word sunshine I automatically start singing “you are my sunshine, my only sunshine” 🎶  That is because it is one of Madelyn’s favorite songs!  Now I just wish I would see some of that elusive sunshine soon!

I decided to go with the Sunshine Sayings stamp set and the matching dies called Sunshine Wishes.  I also used the stamp set Merry Christmas To All which has the words “Wishing” and “You” in it and the Dog Builder Punch that is in the 2019 Occasions Catalog for the little heart that dots my “i”.

To make this card, I first cut out three sets of the flowers in Mango Melody.  I cut off the stems and then layered them together on a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock.  I punched out the flower center using my 1″ Circle Punch and then ran it through my Big Shot using the Subtle Embossing Folder.  I cut out the butterfly in Poppy Parade card stock and the word sunshine in Basic Black.  I embossed all the words by stamping them in Versamark and then using White Embossing Powder with my Heat Tool.  All of this is layering on top of a card base of Poppy Parade.

Now, let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made.  I am sure their creations will make me happy while skies are gray!

Bird Banter Waterfall Card

This is another card we made at our monthly stamp club meeting.  It is a fun fold called Waterfall Card.  Honestly between you and me, I am not sure why it is called a Waterfall Card but it is certainly fun!  You pull the piece of Daffodil cardstock down and the layers start to flip up so you can see the layer below.

We used the stamp set called Bird Banter to make the Waterfall part.  It is an adorable set that is in the 2018 Occasions Catalog.  I know every is talking about the retirement list but the Occassion Catalog is still available until May 31st.  Bird Banter will not be in the 2018/2019 Annual Catalog so I guess you could say it is retiring when the catalog ends.

The background for this card was made using the stamp set Sunshine Sayings.  Sunshine Sayings is being carried over into the next Annual Catalog.  We stamped the flowers in Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight.  The leaves were stamped in Emerald Envy which is an InColor that will also be retiring on May 31st.  We stamped the birds in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colors them with Stampin’ Blends (Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie).

If you would like instructions on how to make this card you can go to Splitcoast Stampers and look under the Tutorial Tab.  They have directions on just about any card style you can think of and is a great resource for all things stampin’!

Here are some more cards I made in the past using Bird Banter (just in case you needed more reasons to buy this set before it is going forever.!

Sunshine Sayings

Last weekend Rob and I went to see our grand daughter, Madelyn.  It was her second birthday.  I can’t believe how quickly time went and that she is already two!  If you ask her how old she is she will tell you “two weeks”.  I’m not sure where she got that from, but it is adorable.  She is also a genius!  I mean it.  She is so bright.  Ok, I will admit I am her grandmother so I may be just a wee bit biased but how many two years olds can sing the alphabet song?  She sung it perfectly except for the usual jumble of l, m, n, o p.  See?  I told you she is a genius!

For her birthday party she dressed like Minnie Mouse.

Back to our regularly scheduled program……

I made this card using the stamp set Sunshine Sayings.  This set has matching Thinlits called Sunshine Wishes.  Both of these items are being carried over into the new Annual Catalog which starts June 1st (Yay!).

I don’t know if you have noticed or not, but lately I have been doing a lot of cards that are quick and easy.  There is a reason for that.  I was actually going on vacation for a couple of weeks so I had to make 15 cards and write 15 blog posts before I left.  We flew to our destination so I couldn’t bring stamping things without Rob being unhappy with a $100 baggage charge for an extra suitcase!  Whew!  It has been kind of crazy but I think I did ok with this task.

So, here is another quick and easy card to make when you are in a hurry (or having to make enough cards in a couple of days to keep this blog going).  I used the stamp set called Sunshine Sayings for the flowers and leaves.  The ‘Happy” is from Crazy About You (which is one of the few stamp sets that comes in your choice of wood mount, clear mount or Photopolymer!) and the banner is from Time Of Year.

Well, thanks for being so patient with me by putting up with so many easy cards.  At least I hope I showed you that making cards doesn’t have to be elaborate or time consuming.

Love Is In The Air

Sunshine Sayings, Sunshine Wishes, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

This is a nontraditional Valentine’s Day card I made using Flirty Flamingo and Peekaboo Peach.  I suppose the name Flirty Flamingo is appropriate for Valentine’s so I think that makes it ok to use.

I used the stamp set called Sunshine Sayings to make this card.  This set is in the Annual Catalog and has matching Thinlits called Sunshine Wishes.  You can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  This is one of those stamp sets that didn’t catch my eye right away.  Then I started seeing samples of it on Pinterest.  Then Jackie, my Stamp Off buddy, started posting her samples and she talked me right into it.  Now I use it a lot, especially with Valentine’s Day coming up.

You better start making your Valentine’s Day cards soon since it is only a couple of weeks away.  Valentine’s (like birthdays) was made for cards so it is definitely a must do thing.  I send Valentine’s Day cards to my sisters and mother so it is not just for husbands, wives, girlfriends or boyfriends.  You can send one to people you love (like family)!

Don’t forget it is Sale-a-bration time! Earn FREE merchandise with a qualifying purchase! Get an extra $25 in Hostess Benefits with a $250 workshop (or order)! Join my Stampin Up! family and get a $125 worth of product for $99 PLUS your choice of TWO FREE STAMP SETS (an added value of up to $104)!!

Sunshine Sayings

My friend, Buffy is an amazing contributor to Craft Project Central (CPC).  The designers on this site create all sorts of projects.  For $10 a month you can have access to all the directions to these projects.  In addition to this, they do a monthly sketch challenge.  Buffy posted this sketch challenge one day last month so I decided to make a card using it.  The only problem is, I didn’t realized when I saw the challenge that it was the last day to submit anything.  I didn’t actually make the card until the next day so I was too late.

In any case, here is the sketch I used:

I used the stamp set called Sunshine Sayings to make this card.  It has a set of matching Thinlits called Sunshine Wishes.  You can save 10% by purchasing them both in a bundle.  The Designer Series paper is called A Little Foxy.  Most of the colors in this paper use Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Smoky Slate.  I love these colors together so expect to see lots of cards made with them.

Sunshine Wishes

Sunshine Sayings, Sunshine Wishes, Stampin Up, susanstamps.wordpress.com

Sunshine Sayings is a stamp set that is in the Stampin’ Up! 2016 Catalog.  It is one of those sets that I passed by numerous times because there are so many other sets that I wanted.  Then along came Jackie.  Sigh.  Jackie used this set a few times in our weekly Stamp Off Challenges.  Every time she used it, I liked it more and more until it ended up on one of my orders.

I received this set yesterday.  I started looking at it and thought it would make a perfect card for my sister, Katherine.  Katherine and her family are going through a very tough time.  Every day I wish I could give her a big hug but she lives more than 5 hours away from me so it is not possible.  I guess the  next best thing is to hug her by mail.  I sent her this card just to let her know I am thinking of her and her family.  They could use a lot of prayers so anyone out there who wants to help, it would be appreciated.
