Giving Thanks

Hello everyone.  Today is another Stamp Off Challenge with Jackie, Buffy and me.  This time our challenge was to make a thank you or being grateful card.

I love cards that have different angles so I decided to make a thank you card with that in mind.  The colors I used on this care are Night Of Navy, Old Olive and Whisper White.  It was a fairly simple card to make (as I usually try to do).

I first used a die from the set called Tasteful Background.  There are three dies in this set that just cut out designs from backgrounds.  In this case I used the flower one cutting it twice on a 3.75″ by 5″ piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I took a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and adhered it behind the lower section and let the layer of Old Olive cardstock show through on the top.  I stamped the sentiment  from the stamp set called Tropical Chic in Old Olive ink and then layered it on a piece of Old Olive cardstock.  I cut the ends at an angle with my Trimmer.

I thought about adding some rhinestones or enamel dots to the center of the flowers but decided that might be a little too much bling.  I don’t know though.  I still might!

Now let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie made.  I always love our Stamp Off Challenge days!

By the way,  I am on my way to Hartford CT to attend a Stampin’ Up!® mini convention called OnStage Local.  It is a one day event for Demonstrators that happens twice a year all over the world.  Buffy and two of my downline are meeting me there so it should be a blast.  I only wish Jackie was coming too.  If you are interested in becoming a Stampin Up! Demonstrator so you can attend these fun events, just shoot me an email or click on the Join Now button to the right of this post.

Tasteful Backgrounds

These are two cards we made at my monthly stamping class a couple of weeks ago.  They are a take on the Floating Frame technique by Jennifer McGuire but I didn’t make them floating because the spaces were too small for Dimensionals.

To make both of these cards I first took a 5.5″ x 4.25″ piece of Whisper White cardstock and cut it five times in different places using a die from Tasteful Backgrounds.  Then I took two dies from the Stitched Rectangles and cut out the piece in the middle and around the edges.  The middle piece was used to make the card on the top and the outside piece was used to make the card on the bottom.

The colors on the top card are are Rich Razzleberry and Garden Green.  The flower was made using the Pressed Petals Specialty Washi Tape.  This Washi Tape is a big roll of petals.  We used six of them to make the flower.  I cut a small circle using the 3/4″ Circle Punch and attached the tips of the petals on top of it.  Then I turned the flower over and used my Embossing Buddy to take the stickiness out of the edges of the petals so they would not adhere to the cardstock and look flat. I put a Clear Faceted Gem in the middle of the flower and adhered it to my card.  I stamped the sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings in Rich Razzleberry ink and punched it out using the Classic Label Punch.

The colors I used for the second card were Bermuda Bay, Pool Party and Mango Melody.  I attached the piece I had left over from the first card and attached it to a piece of Pool Party cardstock I had cut put using the Stitched Rectangle dies.  I stamped the cake from the stamp set called Piece Of Cake in Mango Melody and punched it out using the Cake Builder Punch.  I punched out the cake stand in Mango Melody cardstock.  The sentiment is from Beautiful Friendship. Lastly, I added some Glitter Enamel Dots for some color and sparkle.

It was fun to get two cards out of one die cut!

Tasteful Backgrounds & Daisy Lane

Stampin’ Up!® has so many awesome new products in the 2019/2020 Annual Catalog that I had a hard time keeping to my budget.  I am not a very patient person so when I see something I love, I want it immediately.  This card had three different products that I purchased right away.

The colors I used on this card are Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Mango Melody.  To make this card I first used the set of dies called Tasteful Backgrounds.  There are three dies in this set that you can use to make fun backgrounds like this one.  It also has a matching stamp set called Tasteful Textures (and you can get the 10% Bundle price).  I didn’t use the matching stamp set on this card but it is really pretty and worth buying.

After I cut them out, I used my 1 1/4″ Circle Punch with Mango Melody cardstock to put behind a couple of the cut out images.  Then I used Mango Melody ink with the stamp set called Daisy Lane with the matching punch called Medium Daisy (you can buy these in a Bundle and save 10%).  The sentiment is from another new stamp set called Here’s A Card.  This is a sentiment only set that has a few different elegant fonts and sentiments to use on the inside and the outside of a card.

Don’t forget it is Bonus Days.  For every $50 you spend during the month of July you earn a $5 coupon towards your August purchases.  There is no limit as to how many coupons you can earn!
