Timeless Tropical

Welcome to another BS & J Productions’ Stamp Off Challenge.  This time our challenge is to use our Stampin’ Blends. When I saw this challenge I looked through my current stamp sets and could not find an image I wanted to color.  I struggle with coloring because I have no eye for light and shadows and all those things that go into doing it well.  After not really finding an image I could pretend to color well, I decided to think of something different.  I decided to use my Blends to make a background instead.

Stampin Up Timeless Tropical

The first thing I did was randomly pull a bunch of different colors out of my Blends holder.  I really did not know what I was going to do but after pulling some of them out, I decided the colors I chose (Pale Papaya, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party and Bermuda Bay) looked like colors of a beautiful sunset on the water.  So then I looked through my stamp sets again and decided on using the Timeless Tropical Bundle.  This bundle includes the Timeless Tropical stamp set and the coordinating die set called In The Tropics.  I added more colors (Pumpkin Pie for the sunset, Cinnamon Cider and Soft Suede for sand.  Then I just took each light and dark color and drew lines across a piece of Basic White card stock.

After that I used my Stampin Write Markers to color the palm tree stamps in Cinnamon Cider and Garden Green.  I stamped them twice and cut them out using the coordinating die.  I adhered one of them using Multipurpose Glue and the other using Dimensionals.  Lastly I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set called Sweet Ice Cream in Memento Black ink.  I used a Coastal Cabana card base.

Now let’s go see what beautiful creation Buffy and Jackie made using Blends.  They are both really good at coloring so I am sure they will be gorgeous.

Stampin Up Timeless Tropical

One of the trends I love in the world of stamping is having a black and white background and then adding a pop of color.  Stampin’ Up!® has offered a lot of beautiful black and white Designer Series Paper and this year is no exception.  There are actually two sets of DSP that feature black and white.  One is called Simply Elegant Specialty DSP and one is a Hostess Set called Pattern Party.  The Simply Elegant pack is Basic Black and Basic Gray and features gold, silver and copper foil (which is why it is called “Specialty”).  The Pattern Party pack is black and white on one side and all different colors on the other.  You can only get the Pattern Party pack with a qualifying order but it is an amazing pack of paper and worth it.  I have used it a lot lately.  There are 48 sheets of 12″ x 12″ paper in this pack.

To make this card I used the stamp set called Timeless Tropical.  This is a great set because it has beautiful palm trees, flowers, leaves and sentiments.  It also has a coordinating set of dies called In The Tropics which cuts out all the shapes in the stamp set and also has a huge pineapple it can cut out.  I stamped the flower in Coastal Cabana ink and colored it using the Light Pool Party Stampin Blends.  I stamped the leaves in Granny Apple Green ink and then colored them with the Light Granny Apple Green Blends.  Then I cut them both out using the coordinating dies.

The sentiment I used is from the stamp set called Artistically Inked.

Stampin Up Timeless Tropical

Every time a new Stampin’ Up!® catalog comes I get so involved in it I forget there is an Annual Catalog full of wonderful products.  I seem to always keep the new products in front of me and the older ones get lost in the shuffle.  The other day I went through some of the older products and pulled out the stamp set called Timeless Tropical.  This stamp set has coordinating dies (although I didn’t use them on this card) too.

To make this card I first colored the palm tree stamp using the Just Jade and Cinnamon Cider Stampin’ ® Write Markers.  Markers are a great way to get two or more colors on your stamp.  After coloring them you “huff” (or breathe heavily) on them to reactivate the ink.  After stamping them I cut them out using a die from the Hippo & Friends die set.  I stamped the sentiment using Cinnamon Cider ink and cut that out using a die from Tasteful Labels.  Then I layered both images on top of a Just Jade stitched rectangle.

The Designer Series Paper is from the InColor 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper Assortment.

I know I promised some photographs of baby Jackson who was born October 2nd.  He is such a sweet boy.

Here is a photo of his big sister, Emy holding him.  I think she is trying to find out where all his hair is.  She seems to be adjusting to having a baby brother although she made it very clear she wanted a sister and not a brother!

This is one of the cards we made at my last stamp class.  It seems like such a long time ago that I held a class.  Unfortunately, it is one of the things many, many things we had to stop due to COVID-19 (and my anticipated move).  It makes me sad when I think about the ladies that came to my classes over the years.  I had the best group and I miss them all a lot.  The good news is some of us got together (remotely of course) to hold monthly swaps.  Our first swap is at the end of of April and I will be sure to share them when it happens.

To make this card I used the Tropical Oasis Suite which is in the 2020 January – June Mini Catalog.  I knew as soon as I saw this Suite that I would have to get it and I still love it.  The Suite includes the stamp set called Timeless Tropical.  It has matching dies called In The Tropics (and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle).  Also included in this Suite is an embossing folder (Coastal Weave), Tropical Oasis Trinkets, Saddle Brown Stazon Ink, a Memories & More Card Pack and Braided Burlap Trim.  Plus there is Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper.  I love that Stampin’ Up!® has so many products  that go so well together.

The colors I used in this card are So Saffron, Pear Pizzaz, Very Vanilla, Early Espresso and Calypso Coral.  I layered a piece of the Tropical Oasis DSP on top of a piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock and a So Saffron card base.  Then I colored the trees with a Pear Pizzazz and Early Espresso Stampin Write Marker and cut them out using the coordinating dies.  Markers are a great way to stamp something in more than one color.  I cut two pieces of Pear Pizzazz cardstock using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies and then ran them through my die cutting machine using the Subtle Embossing Folder.  This gave the cardstock some texture.  I cut the sentiment out of Early Espresso cardstock and the flower out of Calypso Coral.  Lastly I added a Frosted Clear Epoxy Droplet to the center of the flower.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I have had enough of winter.  A little winter is ok but six months of winter is just too much.  I used to live downstate New York.  It is only 5 hours from where I live now but weather-wise it is a big difference.  We actually had four seasons and the seasons were evenly spaced.  There were three months of winter, three months of spring, three months of summer and three months of fall.  It was perfect.  Now I live in a place that has two seasons.  They are winter and July.   I hear that Hawaii has only one season.  75. All year round. Sounds like perfection to me!

Every time I take out the Tropical Oasis Suite, I think about warm weather and sunshine and wish I was there. One of the first things that caught my eye when I saw this suite was the large pineapple die.  I thought it was such fun and it is not complicated to put together either.  The pineapple is two pieces.  Easy as pie!  The entire suite is actually beautiful.

To make this card I used Terracotta Tile as a card base.  I layered a piece of the Designer Series Paper called Tropical Oasis on top of it.  I cut out the pineapple using the In The Tropics Dies out of So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz.  The sentiment is from a stamp set called Timeless Tropical which is also part of this suite.

Well, now that I took a little vacation, I get to go back to the snow and sleet that is going on right now.   I hope you are all somewhere warm and sunny.  If you are not physically there , then mentally.

Timeless Tropical

This is one of the cards we made at my monthly stamping class. It uses some of the products in the Tropical Oasis Suite that is in the 2020 January-June Mini Catalog.  This suite includes the stamp set called Timeless Tropical, the matching dies called In The Tropics (and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle0, Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper, a gorgeous 3D embossing folder called Coastal Weave, ribbon, embellishments and a Memories Or More Card Pack.  It is one of my favorite suites in this catalog, although it does make me want to move somewhere tropical!

The colors I used on this card are So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz, Early Espresso and Calypso Coral.  To make this card I first layered a piece of the Tropical Oasis onto a piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock and adhered them to a So Saffron card base.  I cut out two rectangles from the die set called Stitched So Sweetly and ran one through my Big Shot using the Subtle 3D embossing folder.    I colored the palm trees using Pear Pizzazz and Early Espresso Stampin’  Write Markers and then cut them out with the matching die.  I cut the word “aloha” out of Early Espresso cardstock and the flower out of Calypso Coral.  After I put it all together I decided to add a Clear Epoxy Droplet to the middle of the flower.

So Rob and I have been super busy packing up the house.  My stamp camp is totally in boxes (which is the saddest thing!).  I am not even going to hint at how many boxes it took.  Let’s just say I had to run to Staples to buy more.   We took down all our photographs (ok so this was really the saddest thing) and artwork off the walls.  We are almost ready to put our house on the market.  Wish us luck!

Mountain Air

Mountain Air is a new stamp set that is in the Stampin’ Up!®  2020 January – June Mini Catalog. It is a reversible stamp set where you can stamp the image on one side of the stamp and then stamp it again using the other side.  It gives it a fun shadow image.  I didn’t actually do that on this card but it looks so pretty when you do.  Plus, this stamp set has matching dies called Majestic Mountain Dies and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.

To make this card I first stamped the darker image of the trees in Shaded Spruce ink and then stamped them again a little higher without re-inking.  The second stamping is lighter so it looks like those trees are in the background.  It is so easy to do and gives the card a 3D look.  After I did this, I inked it again stamped it onto a piece of masking paper.  You can also use a couple of Post-It Notes to do this.  I cut around the trees on the masking paper and then covered the trees I had stamped earlier.  This is called masking.  Then I stamped the mountains in Seaside Spray.  The mask keeps the two stamps from overlapping and looking funny.  Next I sponged the bottom half of the card with Seaside Spray Ink.  I used a stamp from the set called High Tide to make the waves.

The sentiment is from a set called Timeless Tropical.  This set is also in the 2020 Mini Catalog.

Here is a video showing you more ideas and projects with this fabulous bundle!

Timeless Tropical

Hello everyone.  It is time for another Stamp Off Challenge with Buffy, Jackie and me!  This time our challenge was to use our favorite stamp set from the 2020 January – June Mini Catalog.  This was really hard to me because I have so many favorites from this catalog so I had a hard time choosing.  I decided on using the Tropical Oasis Suite but only because I haven’t used it that much.

The Tropical Oasis Suite includes the stamp set called Timeless Tropical, the matching dies called In The Tropics, Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper, a gorgeous embossing folder called Coastal Weave, ink, ribbon, embellishments and even a Memories Or More Card Pack!  It is an amazing Suite and the colors are gorgeous.  This is one of the Suites that Stampin’ Up!® made it possible to order everything in it with just one item number (#153941).  If you buy the entire Suite you would be eligible to get FREE two $50 Sale-a-bration items or one $100!  Free is always great!

The colors I used for my card are Terracotta Tile and Granny Apple Green.  Terracotta Tile is one of the new InColors.  It is a beautiful coral/orange-like color and is much softer looking in person than in my photograph or the catalog.

To make this card, I first stamped two sets of the Palm Trees in Granny Apple Green and cut them out using the matching dies from In The Tropics.  The rest was easy!  I used the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper for the top half of the card and just layered a piece of Granny Apple Green 1/2″ Textured Weave ribbon around it before adhering it to the Terracotta Tile card base.

The sentiment is from a new stamp set in the Mini Catalog called Layered With Kindness.  I punched it out using a new punch called Label Me Fancy.

Now let’s go see what Buffy’s and Jackie’s favorite stamp sets are in the 2020 Mini Catalog.  I am sure they had a hard time choosing too

Hello everyone.  It is time for another Stamp Off challenge with Buffy, Jackie and me.  Our challenge this month was to use a technique called Masking.  Masking is a very cool rubber stamping technique that involves layering stamped images to create depth by stamping images one on top of the other to give the illusion that images are in front or behind each other.  You do this by stamping one image and then covering it with something (such as a Post-It Note or Masking Paper) and then stamping another image overlapping part of the first image.  The Masking Paper prevents the second image from covering the first giving you the illusion that the second image is behind the first.   Masking is also used when you want to keep ink from a section or part of your card.  I used this masking technique for my card.

To make this card I first cut out a rectangle from Masking Paper. I took the negative part and used it to cover a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Then I sponged Sahara Sand, Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Seaside Spray ink into the cut out rectangle.  You can see how the mask prevented the ink from going outside the rectangle.

For this card I used a new stamp set called Timeless Tropical to stamp the Palm Trees in Memento Black Ink. This set is in the 2020 Spring Catalog.  It has a set of matching dies called In The Tropics, although I did not use them for this card.  I just love how realistic the Palm Trees look and the dies are amazing. In addition to cutting out the images in the stamp set, the dies also include a gorgeous pineapple and the word ‘aloha” .  The stamp set also has some sentiments in including the one I used for this card.

Finally, I added some Dimensionals to the back of the cardstock before layering it onto a Whisper White card base which popped it up and gave it some dimension.

Now, let’s go see what Buffy and Jackie created for their Masking Technique.

Timeless Tropical Sneak Peek

Tropical Oasis Suite is a new product that is in the Stampin’ Up!® 2020 Mini Catalog that comes out on January 3rd.  The Suite includes the stamp set called Timeless Tropical along with the In The Tropics Dies, Designer Series Paper called Tropical Oasis as well as the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder, Trinkets, Memories & More Card Pack and Braided Burlap Trim.  It is an awesome stamp set that has these very realistic palm trees, Hibiscus flowers, leaves, a pineapple and sentiment.  My favorite part of the entire suite is the die that cuts out a very large pineapple.  I made a card using that die which I will show you at a later date.  If you buy the stamp set and the dies in a Bundle, you can save 10%.

The colors I used on this card are Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Soft Suede and Basic Black.  I first colored the palm trees stamp using Old Olive and Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Markers three times.  Then I punched a 1 1/4″ circle out of scrap paper using a punch.  I threw out the actual circle and used the negative to color in the sun with my Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen.  It was much easier to do it that way then try to color a perfect circle.  Lastly I cut out the word “aloha” using a die and Basic Black cardstock.  It was very easy to make this card and only took a few minutes.

The 2020 Mini Catalog starts January 3rd.  I can’t give you links to purchase the products yet because they are not available for sale yet.  If you live locally and would like a copy of it, just let me know.  It is an amazing catalog and I sure you will love it as much as I do.
