Tropical Chic

I need a break from winter.  Normally Rob and I go to Florida for at least a week during the winter months but we have had so much going on that we haven’t been able to go.  I am not complaining because a lot of that is because we go to visit our grandchildren, which is much better than a week in Florida alone.  The only thing is, although they live in a warmer climate than I do, it is still not sunshine and t-shirt weather.  Next time we will all have to go to Florida together!  Of course, the grandchildren are like sunshine to me, which is even better!  Here is where you can start humming “you are my sunshine, my only sunshine….🎶🎵

To get back to my card, I decided to use some tropical products for my card.  The stamp set is called Tropical Chic and it has matching dies called Tropical Thinlits.  They are both part of a suite called Tropical Escape (which is what I need!).  Also in this suite are embellishments, ribbon and Designer Series Paper.  I used everything in the suite on this card except the embellishments.

To make this card I first stamped the flower in Blushing Bride ink and the leaves in Granny Apple Green.  Then I cut them out using the Tropical Thinlits Dies.  I cut a piece of Designer Series Paper called Tropical Escape and layered a piece of 1/2” Textured Weave Ribbon in Granny Apple Green on top.  Lastly I stamped the sentiment in Granny Apple Green ink.

Can you feel the warmth and sunshine?

Tropical Chic

This is the third card we made at our monthly club meeting in December.  It uses products from the Tropical Escape Suite that is in the 2018/2019 Annual Stampin’ Up!® Catalog.    I love how Stampin’ Up! puts matching products together making it easier to buy things that match.

The stamp set called Tropical Chic and it has matching dies called Tropical Thinlits.  You can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  There is also Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper, ribbon, cardstock and embellishments in this Suite.  I do have to say that the 1/2″ Textured Weave Ribbon is beautiful (even though we didn’t use it on this card).

To make this card I first cut out the leaf square in Whisper White cardstock and backed it with a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock.  Then I stamped the flower in Poppy Parade and cut that our using the matching die.  The Granny Apple Green Leaf is also a die.

I haven’t shown you pictures of my grandchildren lately so I am sharing here.

Madelyn had a Christmas concert at school.  All the children wore this shirt.  They did a great job singing.

Here is Emy in her Christmas outfit.  I think this is what she wore when they went to pick out their Christmas tree.

I think Nolan had a great time in the bubbles!

Tropical Chic Thank You

Tropical Chic is such a fun stamp set.  Whenever I see any cards made with it (and there are a lot because it is very popular) they always look for happy and bright.  It is probably because anything tropical is fun (think turquoise water, white sandy beaches and a pina colada!).  The other fun thing is this stamp set has matching Thinlits and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.

Speaking of Thinlits, you should take a look at this set.  They have dies to cut out the leaves but they also cut out the centers of the leaves.  Plus they have a square die that cuts out a frame of leaves.  Lastly, some of the dies cut out some of the images from the Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper.  I love that!

The colors I used to make this card are Coastal Cabana, Granny Apple Green, Lemon Lime Twist and Pineapple Punch.  The large Thank You piece is cut from the Thank You Thinlits Die.  The sentiment is from All Things Thanks.

This is another simple and easy card I made using Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I showed you one yesterday using the Best Route DSP.  This time I am using the Tropical Escape 6″ x 6″ pack.  This paper is absolutely gorgeous!  It uses the colors Granny Apple Green, Blushing Bride, Shaded Spruce, Basic Black and Whisper White.  It has beautiful flower and leaf designs and it is part of the Tropical Escape Suite (page 120 of the Annual Catalog).

The Tropical Escape Suite includes the stamp set called Tropical Chic.  This stamp set has matching dies called Tropical Thinlits Dies.  You are going to love this Bundle (yes you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle).  The dies cut out the outline of the leaves in the stamp set but also cut out the middle too!  PLUS, the dies cut out some of the leaves on the Designer Series Paper!  How cool is that!

To make this card I cut out a 3.75″ x 5.5″ piece of Tropical Escape DSP.  I attached this to a piece of 1″ x 5.5″ of Blushing Bride cardstock.  Then I layered a piece of the Granny Apple Green 1/2″ Textured Weave Ribbon where the two pieces met.  Then I adhered it all to a piece of 8.5″ x 5.5″ Whisper White cardstock folded in half.  I stamped the flower for the Tropical Chic stamp set in Blushing Bride and cut it out using the Tropical Thinlits Dies.  I stamped the sentiment in Granny Apple Green Ink and cut the banner points out by hand.

Tropical Chic

Tropical Chic is a fun new stamp set that is in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.  It has a set of matching Thinlits called Tropical Thinlits Dies and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  Let me tell you.  You are going to want to dies that match this stamp set!  Not only do they cut the outside of the leaves, they also cut the inside!  Stampin’ Up! has really gotten innovated with their dies this year.  Plus, they have one die that cuts out a square of leaves.  It is a must have item!

I also used a new Embossing Folder on this card called Subtle.  It is a perfect name for it because it is subtle!  If you look carefully you can see it on the bottom half of my card but here is a close up picture.

It makes it look like the old Textured cardstock that Stampin’ Up! used to sell years ago.

To make this card I first stamped the leaves in Lemon Lime Twist and then cut them out using the matching Thinlits.  Then I stamped the flower and the sentiment in Coastal Cabana and cut each one out using the flower die and Layering Circles Framelits.  I punched out a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock using the Starburst Punch.  I felt like it needed a little bit more so I cut out a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Layering Circle Framelits too.

The Designer Series Paper is called Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper and the ribbon is the 1/4″ Ombre Ribbon in Lemon Lime Twist.  I know it is hard to see because it is behind the leaves and circles.
