Vibrant & Varied Vases

This is the birthday card I made for my friend, Debby.  Her birthday is tomorrow but she should have gotten the card already.  I am always early in life.  I arrive early places and I mail things early.  Sometimes I have to drive around the block 30 times because I am way to early to arrive somewhere.

In any case, the colors I used for this card are Daffodil Delight, Pretty Peacock and Gray Granite.  It is kind of a strange combination but I think it works.  I used three different stamp sets to make this card.  The flower vase is from Varied Vases but the flowers are from Vibrant Vases.  Both stamp sets have a matching punch called Vases Builder.  I love it when Stampin’ Up!® makes products you can mix and match.

I first stamped the vase in Pretty Peacock.  This is a new InColor and is gorgeous!  Next I stamped the outline of the flowers in Gray Granite and then colored them using my Daffodil Delight and Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends.  I cut this image out using the Layering Ovals Dies and layered it on a piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock that I had also cut out using the Layering Ovals Dies.  The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Birthdays.  I just stamped it in Pretty Peacock on a leftover piece of Whisper White cardstock and cut the ends out by hand.  You need to save all those little pieces you cut off for things like this.

I layered it on a piece of  6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper in Daffodil Delight,  I love the plaids in this pack of paper.

Happy Birthday, Debby.  I hope you have a great day tomorrow!

Varied & Vibrant Vases

I love it when Stampin’ Up!® comes out with new products that go with older products so you can mix and match.  A perfect example of this is the new stamp set called Vibrant Vases that is in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  This stamp set goes with the Varied Vases stamp set and the Vase Builder Punch that are both in the 2018/2019 Annual Catalog.

This new stamp set has a bunch of new and fun stamps in it that are different than the Varied Vases set.  Vibrant & Varied Vases are two step stamp sets which means you use two or more stamps to make one image.  In this case, one stamp is for the vase design and another stamp is for the center.  The centers in the Vibrant Vases set are more of a watercolor look than a solid image.  It may look like I did not get a good image but it is supposed to be that way for a softer look.

To make this card I used both stamp sets.  I stamped the vases from the Vibrant Vases stamp set in Basic Gray and the insides in Coastal Cabana, Highland Heather and Mango Melody.  I used the flower stamps from the Varied Vases stamp set and used Lemon Lime Twist for the stems.

Here is a close up of both stamp sets so you can see the difference.  I really like both of them because they are different from each other yet they both use the Vase Builder Punch.  The first picture is Varied Vases and the second is Vibrant Vases.  If you buy all three products you can earn free product from the Sale-a-bration Catalog!

Varied Vases

You know how you have to just cut small pieces of cardstock off the sides to make layers?  I don’t know about you, but I think I want a certain sized layer and then realize I need it a bit smaller so I cut off 1/8″ or 1/4″ on each side.  Do you need a great way to use up those small strips of cardstock?  Here is a card that you can make using them.  I think it adds a bit of interest to the card.

I used the stamp set called Varied Vases.  This set has a matching punch (I love punches) called Vases Builder and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  I didn’t use the punch on this card but I could have and it makes it so much easier than fussy cutting each vase.

I first cut out the circle using the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.  Normally you stamp first and then cut but I thought it would be easier to line everything up if I cut first.  Then I  stamped the “shelf” outline in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and then the filler part in Lovely Lipstick.  Varied Vases is a two step stamp set which means it uses two or more stamps to make an image.  Then I stamped the vases and flowers in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and I used my Stampin’ Blends to color them in.  I used Light Pool Party for the water and Dark Pineapple Punch, Dark Lovely Lipstick and Dark Highland Heather for the flowers.

Varied Vases

Varied Vases is a fun new stamp set in the Stampin” Up! 2018/2019 Annual Catalog.  It was designed by a Demonstrator who reached one million dollars in sales.  Stampin’ Up! has been around for 30 years and there are a handful of Demos that have made this remarkable achievement.  When you reach a million dollars you not only get a big check, you also get to design your own stamp set.  How fun is that?  You can tell which sets are designed by the million dollar Demos by looking for a gold colored logo next to the set.

Varied Vases has a matching punch called Vases Builder Punch and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  The colors I used for this card are Blueberry Bushel, Lovely Lipstick and Gorgeous Grape.  The Designer Series Paper I used is from the 2018-2020 In Color 6″ x 6″ paper.  You can get this paper in all the color families.

I promised some more pictures of my trip to Nashville yesterday.  Here is a picture of Madelyn.

Madelyn is three now.  She has grown up so much!  I do have to say she is hard to take a picture of.  She will look at the camera and smile for about 2 seconds so if you are not quick then she goes back to what she was doing before.  You have to snap about 50 pictures at a time and hope you can get good one!  Madelyn is a little sweet, a lot of sassy and very bright!  I guess that goes along with being three!

Varied Vases

This is another card we made at our monthly stamp club meeting.  It uses a new stamp set called Varied Vases.  This stamp set has a matching punch called Vases Builder and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.

To make this card I first stamped the scalloped edge in Coastal Cabana.  Then I stamped the medium and small vase outline in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and used a second stamp for the inside of the vases using Gorgeous Grape and Mango Melody.  After that I stamped the stems and flower outline stamps in Memento Ink again and finished them off by stamping the inside of the flowers with Mango Melody, Gorgeous Grape and Coastal Cabana.  We used the punch to cut out the larger vase after stamping the outline in Memento Ink and the inside using Coastal Cabana and attached it to the card using a Dimensional.  Last but not least, I stamped the sentiment.

Here are some more beautiful samples using this Bundle from the Annual Catalog.

Varied Vases

Today is my daughter-in-law, Tara’s birthday.  Tara is an awesome person.  She is a terrific mother to two of my fabulous grandchildren (Madelyn and Nolan).  She is a kind and patient wife to my son, Sam and she is a considerate and loving daughter-in-law.  Right now Tara and the family are in the midst of moving from Cleveland to Nashville.  They are kind of in limbos they have sold their house in Cleveland buy have not moved to Nashville quite yet.  I feel badly because I could not send her a birthday gift or even a card because there is no address to send it to so I want her to know that I hope she has a wonderful day and to tell her I love her.

I made this card using a new stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog called Varied Vases.  This stamp set has a matching punch called Vases Builder Punch and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.

I found the sketch for this card on Pinterest so I am not sure where it came from.  I stamped the vases in Lemon Lime Twist, Bermuda Bay and Flirty Flamingo.  Then I layered them over a square cut out with a die from Stitched Shapes.  I stamped the greeting in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

Happy Birthday Tara!  I owe you a card and a gift!

An Impossible Card With Varied Vases

A while ago my friend, Buffy, posted a card that she called an Impossible Card.  Apparently it is based on a very cool card trick called Hypercard.  Another Demonstrator, Dawn Griffith did a video on how to make this card.  Buffy’s was the first I ever saw and I loved it.  Now I see them all over so I had to try my hand at making one.  If you look at Dawn’s web site she made an awesome video with instructions.  Anyway the card is like an optical illusion.   Here is what it looks like looking down at it.

Believe it or not, the card base is one piece that is cut in a few places and then twisted around.

To make this card I started with a base of Grapefruit Grove (4.25 x 5.5) and then scored it in half at 2 1/8″ with my Stampin’ Trimmer.  Then I cut a line at the 2.75″ mark to the score line on one side.  Flipped it around and cut two lines at 1″ to the score lines on each side so it looked like this (this example is in Whisper White):

Then you take the right side and just flip it around so the base looks like this:

Then all you do is decorate it.

I used the stamp set called Varied Vases.  This set will be in the new Annual Catalog that comes out on June 1st.  It as a matching punch!  I used Grapefruit Grove and Highland Heather which are brand new ink colors coming out too!  Grapefruit Grove is a new InColor and Highland Heather is a new color in the Subtle Collection.  The Design Series Paper is called InColor 6″ X 6″.  It comes in all the color families.  I love that it is 6″ x 6″ paper.

Sneak Peek Varied Vases

Hello everyone.  It is Friday which means it is time for another Stamp Off Challenge.  This week our challenge is to make a Mother’s Day Card.

I decided to use a new stamp set that will be in the 2018/2019 Annual Catalog called Varied Vases.  This set has a matching punch with it and you will be able to save 10% purchasing it in a bundle.  This stamp set and punch was designed by Mary Fish, a Million Dollar Demonstrator.  When you reach a million dollars in sales one of the fun things you get to do is design your own stamp set.

Varied Vases is a fun two step stamp set.  This is where you can make one image using two or more stamps.  I did not use this technique for this card.  Instead, I stamped each vase and flower stamp using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then coloring them with my Stampin’ Blends.  I used the Light Daffodil Delight, Light Pool Party and Light Calypso Coral Blends.

The sentiment is from You’re Inspiring.  This is a stamp set that is in the 2018 Occasions Catalog and is carrying over into the new Annual Catalog.  This sentiment is actually two lines.  I covered the top line with Micropore Tape, inked the stamp and then pulled the Tape off before stamping on the card.  It is an easy way to mask something.

On a side note, my mother turned 93 in April.  She is doing great, lives in an Independent Living residence and still drives.  I have to admit, the driving part scares me to death but she assures me she only goes to a couple of stores that are just down the street.  It still scares me though!

Now let’s go see what amazing cards Buffy and Jackie made for their Moms.
