Vintage Leaves

Vintage Leaves is another stamp set that will be retiring in a couple of days.  This is such a great set to own.  It has matching Framelits called Leaflets and is perfect for those chilly fall days when the leaves are turning and the colors are awesome.  Believe me, if you do not own this set you will regret it in the Fall!

It is not Fall right now so I decided to use more summery colors.  I stamped the leaves in Lemon Lime Twist, Tranquil Tide and So Saffron.  I decided I wanted to soften them a bit so I sponged them with these colors too.

Unfortunately, I used the Brick Wall Embossing Folder on this card which has already sold out and is unavailable for purchase now.

The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes which is another must-have stamp set that is retiring.  I stamped it using Tranquil Tide ink and then punched it out with the Classic Label Punch  This punch will be in the new catalog.  I layered on top of a piece of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon,

Remember, there is only a couple of days left to buy the items on the Retirement List.  On Friday these items will be gone for good!

If you need any more convincing, here are a couple of more cards I made in the past using the Vintage Leaves stamp set.

Vintage Leaves

Sometimes in all the excitement of getting new products, we forget about the awesome older ones.  Although the 2017 Holiday Catalog is full of great products, the 2017/2018 Annual Catalog has some wonderful ones too.  Vintage Leaves is one of those stamp sets that was so popular when it first came out that you saw it being used everywhere.  Of course, it has great set of matching  Framelits called Leaflets.  Any stamp set that has matching dies is awesome!

I made this card using a sketch I found on Pinterest.  Can I find that sketch again?  No, so I apologize for using it without giving credit.  I think it had three squares on it with the ribbon on top.  If it is yours, just let me know and I will give you credit for it.

The sentiment I used is from a new limited time stamp set called Color Me Happy.  This stamp set is still available if you would like it.  Just click on the link below.  I decided to add a little color using the Enamel Shapes in Regals and Brights.

Don’t forget.  Today only Stampin’ Up is offering FREE shipping on all orders!

A Stamp Off Negative Space Challenge

Stamp Off Logo Clean

TGIF!  It is Friday and we have another Stamp Off Challenge for you.  This one is called Negative Space.  It is where you die cut a shape out of card stock but instead of using the cut piece, you use the piece you cut out of.

november-11-2016

Here is my card for this challenge:

Vintage Leaves

Two amazing things happened with this card.  First, this is my first negative space card.  I have no idea why I have not done this before and you can expect to see it more often because I really like the look.  Secondly, I used Delightful Dijon for the first time.  I never liked this color.  It was drab and plain ugly but amazingly enough it is perfect for Fall.  It looks awesome with Cajun Craze and when the leaves were at their peak in this area of the world, this color was everywhere (it was a gorgeous fall up here!!)

I cut the first oak leaf out of Cajun Craze cardstock with the Leaflet Framelits and then used that cardstock (not the leaf I cut) as a background.  I lined up a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock behind the cut out and stamped the oak leaf from the stamp set called Vintage Leaves using Cajun Craze ink.  I used Dimensionals to raise up the Cajun Craze cardstock over the Very Vanilla.

The sentiment I used is from the stamp set called Thoughtful Banners and the matching punch is called Classic Label.

Now let’s go see what awesome creations Buffy and Jackie made!

PS:  Thinking of you, Dad.

Tags & Luminaries For Friends

Last weekend I went to New Jersey to go to Stampin Up! OnStage Local.  Every April and November Stampin’ Up! has a convention called OnStage somewhere in the world for their Demonstrators.  It rotates between The United States, Europe and Australia.  This time it was held in Australia.  When it is not in the US, Stampin’ Up! holds what is called OnStage Local.  They rent our various venues all over the US where Demonstrators got for a day, watch videos from OnStage (wherever it was held), do make ‘n takes and learn about new products.

A lot of demos swap cards with each other.  This is where you make so many cards (whatever number you are comfortable with), usually all the same, and swap them for cards that other demos made.  It is a great way to meet other demos and get ideas for cards at the same time.  In addition to this, some demos make special little things for their friends.  This year I decided to make luminaries and bag tags for my friends using the Copper Foil Paper and Copper Embossing Powder.

This is the bag tags I made this year.

Acorny Thank You With Vintage Leaves

Stamp Off Logo Clean

Have I told you lately how much I love Fridays?  Not only is it the day before a weekend, but more importantly, it is the day of our Stamp Off Challenge!  Participating in this challenge with Buffy and Jackie is the best!  Today’s challenge is to use an Autumn theme.

Here is the card I made:

Corny Thank You, Vintage Leaves

I decided to go against the typical fall colors.  Actually, it was not done on purpose.  It is hard to think of Fall when the temperatures are still in the 80’s.  I just wasn’t feeling vey Fallish (I know that is not a word but sometimes made up words just work).  I made a bunch of different cards that went in the “no way am I posting pile”.  This happens quite frequently to me.  It is called losing your mojo which I seem to have done.

In any case, I decide to take a break and make a different card.  I love Island Indigo and it is one of the colors in the Blooms and Bliss Designer Series Paper.  The other color is Mint Macaron so I started to make a card using these colors.  Then I looked at all the leaves I had cut out in my previous attempt and decided to use one of them.  That is how this card evolved.

Now, let’s hope Jackie and Buffy are still on their awesome game and see what they made.

Gold Vintage Leaves

Vintage Leaves, Endless Thanks

I was looking through some of the cards I recently (or not so recently) made and found this one that I never posted.  If you remember, I posted a lot of cards using the Vintage Leaves Stamp Set last Fall.  I think 75% of my posts used this stamp set and matching dies, called Leaflets Framelits, back then.  You were probably pretty sick of seeing them but since it has been a while, I figured I could sneak this one in without too many eye rolls.

I stamped the oak leaf in Versamark and then embossed it using Gold Embossing Powder.  Then I cut it out using the Leaflets Framelits and another one using the Gold Foil Paper.  The sentiment and banner ,which are from Endless Thanks, was also embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.

If you buy the stamp set and Framelits in a bundle you can save 15%.  Plus if you add the Versamark and the Gold Embossing Powder, you will be eligible to pick out a Free item from the Sale-a-bration Catalog!

Another Vintage Leaves

Vintage Leaves, One Big Meaning

Today is the last day to get 15% off stamp sets!  Hurry before it is too late!

I know you are all probably sick of all the cards I make using the stamp set called Vintage Leaves but here is another one.  I can’t help.  I love this set especially since it is Fall here and all the leaves are so beautiful.  I think it must be peak season because the yellows, oranges and reds are so bright.  When the sun is shining, which doesn’t happen much in the Fall, the view is spectacular.

I also love the Cording Trim in gold.  I love the silver too, but I just ordered that so I can only use gold for now.  It is bright and shiny and so easy to tie.  Plus it stays tied unlike some cording trim.  If you don’t have any, you really need to buy some!  It is in the 2015 Holiday Catalog.

Fab Friday 74

Fab+Friday+Logos-74It has been a long time since I have participated in the Fab Friday Challenges but I needed some inspiration and the best way to do that is to participate a challenge.  Fab Friday is one of my favorites because their sketches are simple.  Here is my card for this challenge.

Vintage Leaves, Seasonal Frame Thinlits

I know you have been seeing a lot of leaves lately but I love the Vintage Leaves stamp set with the matching Leaflet Framelits Dies.  The word “grateful” is from a set of Thinlits that are in the Holiday Catalog called Seasonal Frame Thinlits.  I love the font in this set because it is more elegant than some of the others.

Thank You Kindly

Vintage Leaves, One Big Meaning

As you can probably tell, I am in Fall mode now.  I love summer and I love the warm weather but Fall is also one of my favorite seasons.  The days are still warm (70’s) and the nights are cool.  It is perfect sleeping weather.

Of course, leaves go so well in Fall mode.  We have beautiful Falls up here where the leaves turn bright red, orange and yellow.  It is gorgeous until, of course, they fall.  Then it becomes raking season, which is no fun at all.  Our house is surrounded by beautiful oaks and maples but boy, do they make a mess!  It is the only time of the year I wish I lived in a big open field!

Do you see the gold Cord I used on this card.  It is in the Holiday Catalog and is awesome!  It comes in silver too and it is really easy to tie and looks beautiful.

Watercooler Wednesday WWC36

47a5d720b3127cce98548acc27be0000003010wAbsWbFozaNGbUA

Today is another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  This time the challenge is to make a 3D project of your choosing.

Square Pillow Box, Vintage Leaves

I decided to make a pillow box using the Square Pillow Box Die.  The difference is, this pillow box is larger than the usual box but is very easy to make.  It is 7 1/4 ” long instead of 4 1/2″.   The ‘Thanks” is one of the Expressions Natural Elements.  I pressed it into a Mossy Meadow ink pad to color it.

Here is a little tutorial on how to make a box this size.

Take one piece of 8 1/4″ by 5″ cardstock and lay it on the Magnetic Platform.  I liked using the Magnetic Platform instead of the normal one because it holds the Thinlit in place.  Make sure the Square Pillow Box Thinlit is right up and one side of the cardstock and the top of the cardstock as shown below (the black arrows are there to show you what I am talking about).

DSC02897

Then lay your second plate partially over the die.  Make sure you line it up as shown in the photo above.  The die will not cut where there isn’t a plate.

DSC02898

Now run it through the Big Shot this way.  Your cardstock will look like this after it is cut.

DSC02899

Now flip your cardstock around and do the exact same thing making sure to line up one edge of your die with the edge of the cardstock as shown in the photo.

DSC02900

Lay your plate partially over the die as shown and then run it through the Big Shot.

DSC02901

You cardstock will look like this  You might have to cut a little bit where the arrows are with your Paper Snips.

DSC02902

You need to do this twice so you have two pieces of cardstock.  Then just put your Pillow Box together the same way you normally would.

You can see the other Watercooler Wednesday artist’s project HERE.  You can also make your own project to share with the rest of us by linking up at the bottom of the page.
