Have you gotten and the new Stampin’ Blends?  If not, you really need to.  They are perfect for people who love to color and for those that don’t.  Personally, I was on the don’t like to color side but ever since I got these new Blends, I find it so much easier and kind of enjoy it now.  People have always been telling me that coloring is relaxing.  I suppose it is relaxing for those that know how to color but for those of us who have no clue, it was far from relaxing.  The Blends make it so easy because they blend so well together (hence, the name).  You have to try them.  You will love them!

First I stamped one of the flowers onto the Whisper White cardstock I used for the card and another one on a separate piece of cardstock.  I cut the second one out with my Paper Snips.  Then I colored the flowers from the stamp set You’ve Got This using colors Daffodil Delight (both the light and dark) and the Light Calypso Coral.  I cut out a jar from the Jar of Love Bundle and colored that using The Light Pool Party Blend.

The sequins are from the October 2017 Paper Pumpkin Kit.  I had extra so I decided they match this card perfectly.

I made this card originally for a color challenge, but of course, I can’t remember where I got it from.  The challenged used Pink Pirouette, Pool Party and Basic Black.  Normally I would never use pink and blue together.  There was this woman I used to work with many years ago who would wear this bright blue and pink outfit.  The pants, sweater vest and top matched all matched. I have to say, it is one of the worst outfits I have ever seen and she wore it a lot.  It is funny how memories can turn you off from certain colors but in any case, I decided to try them again.  I actually like the card but I am still not so sure about the colors.

I stamped the background using the large stamp in the set called You’ve Got This.  The sentiment is from the Ronald McDonald House Charities stamp set.  When you purchase this set Stampin’ Up! donates $3 to RMHC.  I hand cut out the banner, although there is a set of Framelits you can purchase that would cut it out for you (Cupcake Cutouts).

What do you think of the color?  Yes or no?  I am going with no.

I actually made this card a long time ago and never posted it.  I really have a pile of cards like that, which is probably a good thing just in case I can’t find my mojo.  I always have a backup.  This cards uses a couple of the new InColors.  The flower is cut from Sweet Sugarplum and the stem is from Emerald Envy.  I have to admit that these new InColors are some of my all time favorites.  I like all of them and, as you know, I use them quite a bit.

The flower is from the stamp set is called You’ve Got This.  The sentiment is from Rose Wonder and the background is a large background stamp called Watercolor Wash.

CASEing means to Copy and Share Everything and Stampin’ Up! encourages people to do this.  This is why stampers blog because the point of blogging your cards is to share your creations.  I often see a card I like and want to recreate it using my supplies, colors, etc.  By the time I am done, it looks like a totally different card.  It is good to get ideas from other stampers, especially when I am having a bad mojo day and everything I make ends up in the garbage (yes, this happens quite often).  If you do copy a card exactly, proper etiquette is you should give credit to that person (if you know who it is).  If you don’t know, then it is ok to say, you saw this card somewhere online.

I saw a card on Pinterest using Rectangles to frame a sentiment and thought it was a fun idea.  I don’t have rectangle Framelits but thought I could use the Circles or Ovals Collections Framelits I own.  Then I decided not to put the sentiment in the middle but instead a flower.  The shape of this flower from You’ve Got This stamp set is long so I used the Ovals.  I ended up cutting the flower out but I don’t really think this was necessary.  I could have just stamped it on the Whisper White cardstock.

In any case, feel free to CASE me anytime.  I think it is a compliment!

A Simple Birthday Card

I needed to make a masculine CAS (clean and simple) card for a challenge last year (remember this is only January!) and actually came up with two different cards.  I entered the other one in the challenge.  Both of the cards used the stamp set called Guy Greetings, which is in the Annual Catalog.  If you make a lot of masculine cards, you need to get this set.  It is perfect for that!

A CAS card is a simple card without a lot of layers and embellishments.  I did add a couple of layers for this card which is why I didn’t use it for the challenge since it isn’t exactly a CAS card.  I think CAS cards are just as nice as more complicated cards with a lot of layers.  Plus, I think men like simple better (at least the men in my family do).

The background of this card was made using a stamp from You’ve Got This.  I used my Markers to ink the stamp up in different colors.

You've Got This, Endless Thanks

I started to make this card to use as a Watercooler Wednesday Color Challenge card but I just couldn’t figure out how to use one of the colors in it.  I decided I liked it without the last color so I left it alone and made something else for the challenge.

I used the stamp set called You’ve Got This for the flower.  I think is set was made to use with the Stampin’ Up! Blendabilities but since they are discontinued, I decided to just leave it un-colored (I don’t think that is a word but you know what I mean).  The sentiment and banner is from Endless Thanks.  Endless Thanks is a Photopolymer Stamp Set so you can see exactly where to stamp.

Today is my friend, Debby’s birthday.  This isn’t the card I sent her because I forgot to take a picture of it before sending it to her so I had to make another birthday card.  She gets to keep her card all to herself.

For this card I used a couple of new stamp sets from the Annual Catalog.  The flower is from You’ve Got This.  I stamped it first in Stazon and then used an Aqua Painter to watercolor it.  I used Watermelon Wonder and Old Olive.  The center is Daffodil Delight.  The sentiment is from Tin of Cards, my favorite sentiment stamp set at the moment.  It actually goes with a kit, but it is great to use by itself too.

Another You’ve Got This

A couple of weeks ago I showed you a card that we made at our monthly club meeting using the stamp set called You’ve Got This and Vellum.  We embossed the vellum with white embossing powder and then “colored” behind it with markers.  This time, I used markers to color the flower and leaves right on the card stock.  When using markers, you need to stamp with Stazon so it won’t bleed.  The trick to remember this is, if you used a water based product such as markers to color with, you need to stamp the outline in an non-water based ink such as Stazon.  If you color with a alcohol base product, such as our retired Blendabilities or Copics, you need to stamp the outline in a water based ink such as our Memento Ink.  Just do the opposite of each other and you will be fine!

You’ve Got This

This is the second project we made at our monthly stamp club.  It uses the new stamp set called You’ve Got This which is in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.  This time we embossed the flower onto White Vellum Cardstock using white Embossing Powder.  A lot of the ladies were asking about Vellum so I thought it would be a perfect way to show it to them.  Then we colored the flower on the opposite side of the embossing so it would show through but soften the color a little bit.  We used the new In Colors (Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush and Tip Top Taupe).  The nice part about coloring on the opposite side is you don’t have to quite stay in the lines.

You’ve Got This Sneak Peek

Here is a sneak peek of a new stamp set that will be in the 2015/2016 Stampin’ Up! catalog that comes out in June.  It is called You’ve Got This.  It is a set of 5 stamps that include the flower, the background and the sentiment that I used on this card.  It was a very simple card to make and only took a couple of minutes.  I stamped off the background once but probably should have done it a second time so the flower would show up better.  The banners were made using the new Banner Triple Punch.  I love how it makes three different sized banners.  I did cut the one where I used Watermelon Wonder card stock to make it a little thinner but the banner part matches perfectly.
