In With The New, Out With The Old

Zoo Babies, Thoughtful Banners, Duet Banner Punch

All month I have been talking about how sad I am that some of the Stampin’ Up! products I love are retiring.  The thing is, though, it is also a really exciting time too.  Stampin’ Up! demonstrators were allowed to purchase some of the new items in the Annual Catalog that starts June 1st.  I decided to make a card using one of my favorite sets that is going to retire (Zoo Babies) with one of the new sets that is coming out.  That set is called Thoughtful Banners.  It also has a matching punch called Duet Banners.

In addition to that, I also used a new In Color with this card.  It is the dark blue color and is called Dapper Denim.  See the ribbon?  That is a new Ruched Ribbon that is also in Dapper Denim.  I have to admit, I was a little skeptical about this ribbon.  I thought it might be hard to tie but it was actually easy.  It is a little stiffer which makes it easier to tie.  It comes in all the new In Colors.  You are going to love it!

Here is a picture of Madelyn on her first birthday in the dress I bought her.  She looked adorable in it, although she did not really cooperate with having her picture taken.  We must have taken a hundred photos and none turned out as well as wished.

Celebrate With Zoo Babies

Zoo Babies, Banner Triple Punch

Last weekend I got to spend it with Madelyn.  I hadn’t seen her for a few weeks and it amazed me how much she has grown already!  The nice thing about this weekend was both Great Grandmothers got to meet her for the first time!  We took a punch of cute pictures (one of which is below).

I made this card using the stamp set called Zoo Babies.  It is such a cute set.  Of course, I bought it for Madelyn when she get old enough to stamp with me.  I figure she will be ready in about six months or so.  The background is a new Background stamp called It’s Wild.  Have you looked at all the new background stamps that are offered by Stampin’ Up! yet?  There are some awesome ones!

Here is Madelyn with my mother.  She is 90 years old and has more energy than me!

Zoo Babies

Zoo Babies

I just love this Zoo Babies stamp set that is in the Annual Catalog.  Although it is not new this year, I still love using it.  It might have something to do with Madelyn coming into my life, but all of a sudden I am noticing more baby things.

The Designer Series Paper I used for this card is new.  It is called Cherry On Top and comes in a 6″ x 6″ pad.  I love this new size of DSP.  Stampin’ Up! now offers three different pads of DSP in this size.  They still offer the traditional 12″ x 12″ in a lot of different patterns too.  It is a great way to add some color and texture to your cards.

Apparently Miss Madelyn has not been very cooperative with her mommy lately.  She is going through that crying stage where nothing seems to make her happy.  Thankfully she is getting better at night so at least mommy can get some rest.

Zoo Babies Birthday Bash Baby Shower

Zoo Babies, Birthday Bash

As most of you know, I am in the grandmother to be mode lately.  My son and daughter in law are having a baby in May and I am so excited I can’t stand waiting!  Right now her nickname is Pancakes (they have a dog they named Waffles and when I found out she was pregnant I told my son he better not name the baby Pancakes so now it has stuck).

Yesterday we had a baby shower for them.  It started out as a regular woman only shower but as I was looking on PInterest for some baby shower ideas, I came across a ton of pins that talked about all these games you could play.  Games like melt different kinds of chocolate inside a diaper and make the guest eat it and guess what kind it was.  Um.  No.  It looked like you know what in the diaper and there was no way I was making my guests eat that (real or not!).  Plus, those diapers must have a lot of chemicals in them and that thought made it even worse.  The other popular game was guess how big her belly is.  Again, no.  It is bad enough she feels “fat” there is no way I was going to be measuring her to see who won!

So, as things were slowly going down hill, I decided maybe I should just throw them a baby party and invites husbands and boyfriends.  That is what we ended up doing.  Of course, I had to bribe the men to come with beer.   I did have everyone play one game and even the men participated.  The game was The Price Is Right.  I bought 8 baby items such as Desitin, Tylenol, Plug Covers, etc.  I made up price tags (I used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch which worked perfectly for this) and they had to guess how much each item costs.  Let me tell you.  They were awful at that game!  The most anyone got right was four.  It was ok though because I also decided whoever won the game was getting Pride and not Prize!

If you are still reading this post, I made the card above using Zoo Babies and Birthday Bash.  I saw a similar card on Pinterest and thought it was pretty cute.

Zoo Babies Fun Fold Card

Zoo Babies, Oval Collections FramelitsThis is the second card we made at our monthly Club meeting.  It uses the largest die from the Circle Collection Framelits to make a fun shaped card.  All you need to do is to fold the cardstock you are going to use as your card base (I used Whisper White) and run it through the big shot as shown in the picture below.

DSC02125The stamp set I used is called Zoo Babies.  It is such a cute set to use to make cards for babies or little children.  I just stamped the elephant in Daffodil Delight and then again in Strawberry Slush, cut the Strawberry Slush ear out and adhered it on top of the elephant.  Then I cut it out using a small circle Framelit.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and is cut out using the Word Window Punch.

Zoo Babies

Even though my children are all grown up and I don’t have any two legged grandbabies, I still love this stamp set called Zoo Babies.  It is ok though.  It is one of those sets that I will keep forever because someday I will have grandbabies (I hope) and I can use it then.  (This is where you are supposed to feel sorry for me because I am so deprived!).

As reminder, this card was made with Gumball Green.  Gumball Green is one of the In Colors that are going to retire this year.  I always try to remember to remind my customers that if they like the retiring colors to make sure they order any paper, markers and especially ink refills in February and March because as soon as the retirement list comes out in April, they are usually gone the first day.  So don’t forget to order Gumball Green, Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple and Summer Starfruit before it is too late.

Zoo Babies & Sneak Peek

DSC01783

Although my kids are all grown up, I still decided to buy the stamp set called Zoo Babies because it is so adorable.  Perhaps one day, I will have grandchildren and I can use it for that (are you listening kids??).  It has the cutest baby animals including a giraffe, lion and zebra.  There are actually 10 stamps in this set, each one cuter than the next.

I have two sneak peeks on this card.  The Ampersand is from a new set that is coming out in January called Perfect Pennants.  This stamp set matches a new Framelits that is also coming out called Banners Framelits Dies.  I didn’t use the Banners on this card but I have used them in a couple of previous posts.  The Framelit I did use is from the set called On Film.  This particular framelit looks like an old Polaroid photo.  It also has a camera, a film strip and a couple of arrows.  You will have to wait until January 3rd to order any of these new items.
